Storefront & IGUs · California only
Fogged glass is a failed seal.
That haze between the panes isn't dirt and it won't come off. The seal around the airspace has gone and the unit is doing nothing for your energy bill. It is also usually replaceable without touching the window frame.
Handled by our Bay Area and San Diego shops. Boise does showers, railings and mirrors.
You're replacing the glass, not the window.
An IGU is two lites of glass separated by a spacer with a sealed, usually argon-filled airspace between them. When that seal fails, moisture gets in, condenses between the panes and etches the inner surfaces. No cleaning reaches it — there is no access to that space by design.
We measure the sash
The new unit is made to the opening in your existing frame, including the thickness the frame was built for. Send a photo of the window from inside and out and we'll tell you what we need.
Spec matches or improves
Low-E coating, argon fill, and tempered glass where code requires it — near a door, close to the floor, or in a bathroom. This is a chance to improve on what was there, not just match it.
Swap and reseal
Old unit out, new one bedded and sealed, stops back on. The frame, the hardware and the trim all stay. Far less money and far less disruption than a new window.
Where a frame is rotten, racked or the hardware has failed, replacing the unit is throwing good money after bad — we'll say so and point you at a window company rather than sell you glass that won't fix the problem.
Commercial glass, on a commercial clock.
Aluminium storefront framing, entrance doors and fixed lites for retail and office frontages. Tempered or laminated depending on where the glass sits and what it has to resist.
A broken frontage means you're either closed or standing behind plywood, so the sequence matters more than the spec: board up today, measure today, glass as soon as the fabricator can turn it. Tell us it's a storefront when you call and we'll treat it that way.
Breaks safe
Fractures into blunt granules. Standard for entrance doors and sidelites.
Stays in the frame
An interlayer holds the glass together when it breaks, so the opening isn't left open. Slower to get through, which is the point after a break-in.
Common questions.
My window is foggy between the panes. Can it be cleaned?
No. The space between the panes is sealed at manufacture and there is no way into it. Products that claim to clear a fogged unit work by drilling it and letting it breathe, which ends the insulation value you paid for and leaves you with a window that now takes in dust. The unit gets replaced.
Do I have to replace the whole window?
Usually not. If the frame is straight and sound and the hardware works, we remake just the sealed unit to fit it. Replacing the frame is only necessary when the frame itself is the problem — rot, racking, or a failed weep system. We will tell you which one you have rather than quoting the bigger job by default.
How long does an IGU take?
The unit is built to your measurements, so plan on a couple of weeks. If the glass has to be tempered — near a door, low to the floor, or in a bathroom — add to that, because tempering is scheduled at the fabricator and cannot be rushed.
Do you cover Boise for this?
No. Insulated units and storefront are handled by the Bay Area and San Diego shops. Boise does frameless showers, glass railings and custom mirrors. If you are in Idaho and need a window unit, we would rather tell you that now than after a site visit.
Send a photo of the window.
A photo from inside and out, plus a rough width and height, is enough to tell you whether it's the unit or the frame — and roughly what it runs.
